Mountain Winery Executive Chef Daniel Long
Chef Daniel Long grew up in food service in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, where his mother had been a cook, waitress and chef for as long as he could remember. He cut his teeth working private caterings and commencement weekends in the kitchens at Smith College. While attending UMass Amherst, he started working as a dishwasher in a local pub, and within two years he was the lead cook and expediter for graduation weekend, serving 800 al la carte meals per shift. Never looking back, he moved to California, working in South Lake Tahoe and the Bay Area as a sous chef in a wide variety of restaurants over several years. His first executive chef spot was at Oracle Corp. as first the Executive Dining and then Catering for the whole campus. He has worked in such diverse locations as P.F.Chang’s, EBay, and the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco, where he presided over the grand reopening. He has also opened a Commissary Kitchen serving the highest quality catering to customers from San Francisco to Palo Alto, and was Executive Chef at Intel World Headquarters, Gilead Pharmaceutical Headquarters, and Lego North America Headquarters in Connecticut. Chef Daniel is now proud to bring his eclectic blend of California and Classic American cuisines to the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.
